A honey bread from Ethiopia, this recipe is used to celebrate the Sabbath in religious homes.

Yemarina Yewotet Dabo
Recipe type: Breads and Rolls
Serves: 1 loaf
  • 1 packet yeast
  • 1 Cup warm water
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 Cup honey
  • 1 Tablespoon coriander
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon cloves
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 Cup milk, scalded
  • 1/4 Cup butter, melted
  • 5 Cups flour
  1. Dabo is a special Sabbath bread.
  2. Separate bowl combine the egg, honey, coriander, cinnamon, cloves and salt; Mix well. Add the yeast, milk, and butter. Beat in 1 1/2 Cups flour. Let rise until double, then punch down, knead for 1-2 min. Shape and place in a buttered loaf pan. Let rise for 1 hour. Bake in 300 oven for 50-60 minutes.
  3. Makes 1 large loaf
