We loved these pita sandwiches filled with burgers made with rich flavors and spices. Eating one of these reminds you of being on a terrace cafe overlooking the Bosphorus.
Turkish Lamb Burgers

Ingredients
- 1 pound ground lamb
- 4 cloves garlic; crushed
- 1 Cup fresh bread crumbs
- 1 Tablespoon chopped fresh cilantro
- 1 Tablespoon plain yogurt
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon curry powder
- 1 teaspoon tomato paste
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon turmeric
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- For Serving:
- pita bread
- plain yogurt
- mint
- cucumber slices
Instructions
- Put the ground lamb into a bowl with the remaining ingredients and mix well. Shape into 4 patties.
- Put under the broiler, 4 inches from the heat, and cook for 3 to 4 minutes on each side, until browned and firm.
- Serve in pita bread with yogurt, mint, and cu?-?cumber slices.
