Texas Barbecue Baste is a mop, or basting sauce, perfect for authentic Texas barbecue, with just the right amount of sweetness and spice to entice any palate.

Serves: 3 1/2 Cups
  • 2 Cups beef stock
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons powdered mustard
  • 1/3 Cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Tabasco
  • black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 3/4 Cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/3 Cup oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • crushed red pepper (to taste)
  1. Mix all ingredients together very well. It should form a mixture with the consistency of cream.
  2. Baste meat every 20 minutes. Make more if necessary.
  3. Keep in a bowl or saucepan off the heat. Cooking it will intensify the flavors, but also reduce the volume and is unnecessary.
Great on anything pork, even bacon!
