This simple recipe makes an exceptional side dish when served with pork chops or pork loin or ham or as a simple dessert with vanilla ice cream or vanilla custard. Seriously delicious.

Scalloped Apples

Ingredients
  • 6 tart apples
  • 1 Cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 Cup butter
  • 3 Cups bread crumbs
Instructions
  1. Peel and slice apples. Mix apples, sugar and spices.
  2. Melt butter and pour over bread crumbs.
  3. Place layer of apples in buttered casserole, then bread crumbs. Alternate layers, ending with crumbs on top.
  4. Bake at 350 F for 45 minutes.
  5. Serve with pork chops or ham. Put some whipped cream on it and serve it as a dessert.
