Used as decoration for a variety of purposes, radish roses may be made simply, as in the recipe below, or more complex, by slicing thin slices leaving them attached to the radish and folding them around to create complex roses.  You may also use Daikon radishes, carving beautiful flowers and with a small paint brush, turn the flower petals red with beet juice.

  1. Wash the radishes, cut off the stalks and a very thin slice of the root end.
  2. Cut thin petals from the root to the stem, taking care not to cut right through. then place the radishes in cold water (preferably iced) until they open out like roses.
