Recipe type: Baked Goods
Cuisine: American
Serves: 72 to 84 cookies
  • 1 Cup butter
  • 1 Cup sugar plus additional amount for topping (optional)
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 Tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 Cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  1. Cream butter and the cup of sugar; add well-beaten eggs, then milk, vanilla, flour, salt, and baking powder. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
  2. Roll dough, cut into trefoil or fluted-edge shapes, and sprinkle sugar on top, if desired.
  3. Bake in a quick oven (375 deg. F.) for approximately 8 to 10 minutes or until the edges begin to brown.
This recipe uses a cookie mould to form the trefoil design. You can roll the dough out and use a cloverleaf or other design cookie cutter. We use one with fluted form, creating a round cookie with a scalloped edge.

This is one of our Publisher's favorite cookies. He loves them served as a garnish for a bowl of vanilla ice cream.
