Recipe type: Baked Goods
Cuisine: American
Serves: 1 pie
  • 7 Cups baking apples, thin-sliced, cored and peeled
  • 1 prepared double pie crusts, for 9-inch pans
  • 1 Cup sugar or Stevia, granulated
  • 2 Tablespoons cornstarch
  • 3/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F. Line a 9-inch pie pan with prepared crust dough.
  2. Place sliced apples into a large mixing bowl and set aside.
  3. Combine granulated sweetener, cornstarch, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt in a small bowl. Sprinkle mixture over apples and toss. Spoon the apple mixture into pie crusts.
  4. Cover filled pie with another crust. Seal edges, trim and flute. Make small openings in the top crust to vent.
  5. Bake pie in preheated oven 40-50 minutes or until the top crust is golden. Serve warm or chilled.
We've used hand-rolled short-crust pastry to cover our pie, making one hole in center to allow steam to escape, and decorated it with extra pastry in the shape of leaves.

A convection oven may be used but times will differ depending on type used and number of pies placed in the oven.
