Wonderful when made for soups or as a side dish.

New England Dumplings

Serves: 4 to 6
Ingredients
  • 1 Cup flour
  • 2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 Cup (approximately) milk
Instructions
  1. Sift dry ingredients together and slowly stir in the milk to make a batter thick enough to take up by rounded spoonfuls; use either a tablespoon measure or a soup spoon.
  2. Bring meat cooking liquid to a boil; the liquid should just barely cover the solid ingredients so that the dumplings sit on them. Drop in formed dumplings and cook uncovered for 10 minutes, then cover and cook for 10 minutes longer. Do not remove lid for last 10 minutes.
Notes
This recipes yields enough dumplings for 4 to 6 servings.
