The Tuna Burger is one of life’s surprising pleasures, particularly when accompanied by Spicy Mango Ketchup. Topped with pickled ginger, marinated Asian-style cucumber or sliced avocado, this recipe soon becomes a family favorite.

Grilled Tuna Burger with Spicy Mango Ketchup

Grilled Tuna Burger with Spicy Mango Ketchup
Serves: 6
  • 2 pounds minced fresh tuna
  • 2 Tablespoons whole grain mustard
  • 2 Tablespoons capers; minced
  • 1/4 Cup cilantro; minced
  • 1/4 Cup scallions; minced
  • 1 Tablespoon chipotle puree
  • salt, to taste
  • freshly-ground black pepper, to taste
  • 6 hamburger rolls
  • Spicy Mango Ketchup, see Recipe
  1. Prepare a wood or charcoal fire and let it burn down to embers.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine all ingredients, except rolls and ketchup, and season to taste with salt and pepper. Refrigerate until ready to use. When ready to use, form into 1 inch thick patties.
  3. Brush tuna burgers with olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Grill for 1 minute on each side for rare. Serve on hamburger roll with Spicy Mango Ketchup.
Goes very well with pickled ginger and Asian style marinated cucumber or other vegetable toppings.
