Garlic Bread is classic Italian tradition, prepared differently in each region of Italy. Some areas, where butter is rarely used, prefer olive oil. All regions enjoy it. Simply delicious and comforting.

Serves: 4 to 6 serving
  • 1 loaf Italian bread
  • 4 ounces (125 g) salted butter
  • 1 Tablespoon chopped parsley
  • 1 garlic clove, crushed
  • salt to taste
  1. Slice bread diagonally into 3/4-inch (2 cm) slices, cutting to, but not through, the bottom crust.
  2. Cream butter with parsley, garlic and salt to taste.
  3. Spread butter mixture on both sides of each slice, pressing together to re-form loaf.
  4. Wrap in aluminum foil.
  5. Bake in a moderately hot oven 190 to 200°C (375 to 400°F) for 15 minutes.
  6. Open foil and cook 5 minutes longer to crisp the bread.
  7. Cut through bottom crust and serve warm.
