Ingredients
- 1 loaf Italian bread
- 4 ounces (125 g) salted butter
- 1 Tablespoon chopped parsley
- 1 garlic clove, crushed
- salt to taste
Instructions
- Slice bread diagonally into 3/4-inch (2 cm) slices, cutting to, but not through, the bottom crust.
- Cream butter with parsley, garlic and salt to taste.
- Spread butter mixture on both sides of each slice, pressing together to re-form loaf.
- Wrap in aluminum foil.
- Bake in a moderately hot oven 190 to 200°C (375 to 400°F) for 15 minutes.
- Open foil and cook 5 minutes longer to crisp the bread.
- Cut through bottom crust and serve warm.
