Sour Cream Noodle Bake

  • 1 package medium-wide egg noodles (8 ounces)
  • boiling salted water
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 Tablespoon butter
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1 can tomato sauce (8 ounces)
  • 1 Cup cream-style cottage cheese
  • 1 Cup sour cream
  • 1 Cup chopped green onions
  • 1 Cup shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
  1. Cook noodles in boiling salted water about 8 minutes or according to package directions. Rinse in cold water; drain in colander. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Brown beef in butter over medium heat; pour off and discard grease. Add salt, pepper, garlic salt and tomato sauce. Simmer 5 minutes.
  3. Combine cottage cheese, sour cream, green onions and cooked noodles.
  4. Alternate layers of noodle mixture and meat mixture in a greased 2-quart casserole dish, beginning with noodles and ending with meat. Top with shredded cheese. Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until cheese is melted and browned.
  5. Yields 8 servings.
