Crockpot Venison and Beans

  • 2 pounds venison; cut into cubes, all fat and membrane removed
  • 3 slices bacon; chopped
  • 1 pound white northern beans
  • 2 Quarts water
  • 1 can beef broth
  • 1 medium onion; chopped
  • 1 Cup chopped celery
  • 1/2 Cup carrots; grated
  • 1 Tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
  • salt, to taste
  • freshly-ground black pepper, to taste
  1. Soak beans overnight in water and drain. Place soaked beans in crockpot with water, beef broth, onion, celery, carrots, Worcestershire, garlic powder, salt and pepper. Brown venison and bacon in skillet and add to crockpot. Cook on high for four hours, then turn back to low for two hours or until ready to serve. Fried potatoes and onions make a good side dish along with cornbread.
