Barbecued Spareribs

  • 2 pounds pork spareribs
  • 2 Tablespoons dark soy sauce
  • 1 Tablespoon tomato paste
  • 2 pinches five spice powder
  • 3 Tablespoons honey
  • 1 clove garlic, crushed
  • 1 piece ginger root, peeled, grated (1/2)
  • 1/2 Cup unsweetened orange juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon mustard powder
  • 1 orange peel (optional)
  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. (190 degrees C.). Cut ribs in single portions and arrange in a single layer in a roasting pan. Mix remaining ingredients in a bowl until thoroughly combined. Spoon approximately 1/2 of the sauce over ribs and bake in preheated oven 30 minutes. Increase oven temperature to 400 degrees F. (205 degrees C.). Turn ribs and spoon remainingsauce over ribs. Bake 50-60 minutes, basting and turning frequently until ribs are glazed and rich golden brown. Garnish with orange peel, if desired, and serve hot.
