Buttermilk Biscuits

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 Cup shortening
  • 3/4 Cup buttermilk
  • 2 Cups flour
  • 2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  1. In a bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt; cut in shortening until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  2. Stir in buttermilk; knead dough gently.
  3. Roll out to 1/2 inch thickness. Cut with a 2-1/2 inch biscuit cutter and place on a lightly greased baking sheet.
  4. Bake at 450 degrees for 10 to 15 minutes or until golden brown.
