Cooked Brandy Sauce

  • 1 Cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 stick butter
  • 1 egg, well beaten
  • 1/2 pint heavy cream
  • 4 Tablespoons Brandy or rum
  1. Melt butter with sugar in top of double boiler.
  2. Add the egg to the sugar mixture and cook until thick (about 20 minutes).
  3. Cool thoroughly.
  4. Whip 1/2 pint of heavy cream. Add brandy or rum to cooled mixture. Blend in cream.
