Simple, flavorful and perfect for that long Winter night, waiting for Santa. Great with a cup of hot cocoa or cold glass of milk by the fire. Santa will like them too!

Christmas Butter Cookies
Recipe type: Cookies
Serves: 48 to 60
  • 1 Cup butter
  • 1 Cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 Tablespoon milk
  • 2 3/4 Cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  1. Cream butter, gradually add sugar and beat until light and fluffy.
  2. Beat in egg, milk and vanilla. Combine flour, baking powder and salt. Gradually add to creamed mixture.
  3. Chill for ease in handling.
  4. Roll out dough to 1/8" thickness on lightly floured surface. Cut with floured cookie cutters into desired shaped. Bake on a cookie sheet in preheated 350 degree oven 8-10 minutes or until lightly browned.
  5. Remove to wire racks to cool.
Makes 4 to 5 dozen cookies.
