Stunning. Gorgeous. Delicious. Just like their namesake, Carol Lombard, famed actress of the 1930s and wife of Clark Gable, these ribs are full of vitality, and provide the palate with a vivacious, beautiful taste.

Carol Lombard's Barbecued Spareribs
Recipe type: Pork
Serves: 6
  • 1/2 Cup soy sauce
  • 3/4 Cup honey
  • 2/3 Tablespoons prepared mustard
  • 10 ml garlic; chopped fine
  • 5 pounds lean spareribs
  • 4 Tablespoons water
  • 2 Tablespoons flour
  1. Mix together soy sauce, honey, mustard and garlic.
  2. Place spareribs in roasting pan.
  3. Bake at 300 degrees F. for 45 minutes. Pour off grease.
  4. Bake 1 and 1/4 hours until tender, basting constantly to keep the ribs covered with sauce.
  5. When done remove ribs. Add 4 Tablespoons water to sauce.
  6. Cook on top of stove, stirring until blended.
  7. Make a paste with flour, and add to sauce. Cook until thick. Replace ribs in gravy.
  8. Return to warm oven. Keep hot until serving time.
