The quintessential autumnal snack for kids of all ages, Candied Apples are seriously fun to eat and a great Halloween season favorite. Hey, we used gluten free apples!

Candied Apples
Recipe type: Candies
Serves: 8
  • 8 red apples with a wood stick inserted in each
  • 2 Cups sugar
  • 1 Cup light corn syrup
  • 1/2 Cup water
  • 1/4 Cup red cinnamon candies
  • 10 drops red food coloring
  1. In a 2 quart enamel saucepan, mix sugar, corn syrup, and water.
  2. Boil, stirring constantly, to 250 degrees on a candy thermometer or until drops of syrup form hard, yet plastic ball in cold water.
  3. Add candies and cook to 285 degrees or until drops of syrup separate into hard, but not brittle threads in cold water.
  4. Remove from heat.
  5. Dunk apples in candy mixture.
  6. Let excess drip off and twirl carefully to spread syrup smoothly.
  7. Cool on a lightly greased baking sheet.
  8. Makes 8 delicious and fun candy apples.
A sweet and refreshing Halloween tradition.

Be particularly careful as hot sugar causes severe burns on human skin. Do not allow the kids to make this recipe.
