These Apple Fritters are simply delicious. Tasty, crunchy, yet soft and tender on the inside, they make a great breakfast or dessert and are perfect with ice cream.

Apple Fritters
Recipe type: Dessert

Serves: 12
  • 1 egg
  • 1/3 Cup milk
  • 1 Cup flour, all purpose
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 3 Tablespoons sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 Cup apples, diced
Cooking Oil
  • shortening, for frying
  1. Heat shortening in a deep pan to 350 degrees F, using a thermometer to determine the temperature. Adjust heat source to keep the temperature consistent.
Make the Batter
  1. Beat egg and add milk.
  2. Sift flour, measure and sift again with baking powder, sugar and salt. Add to beaten egg and milk.
  3. Stir in apples.
Cook the Fritters
  1. Drop by teaspoonfuls in shortening and fry until golden brown.
  2. Drain on paper towels.
  1. Serve with your favorite syrup, apple sauce or sprinkle with powdered sugar.
