Apple Flake Crunch

  • 6 Cup apples; pared, cored, and sliced
  • 2 Tablespoon brown or granulated sugar
  • 3 Tablespoon orange juice
  • 1/3 Cup brown sugar; firmly packed
  • 2 Tablespoon butter
  • 1/2 Cup corn flakes
  • 1/2 Cup unbleached flour; sifted
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg or cinnamon
  • 1 Tablespoon orange rind; grated
  • 3 Tablespoon orange juice
  • 1 Tablespoon butter
  1. Preheat the oven to 375 Degrees F.
  2. Arrange the apples in a greased 10 X 6 X 2-inch baking dish. Sprinkle with 2 Tablespoons of sugar then with 3 Tablespoons of orange juice.
  3. Work 1/3 Cup brown sugar and 2 Tablespoons butter until creamy. Add the next 4 ingredients and mix until crumbly. Spread on the apples. Sprinkle with 3 Tablespoons of orange juice and dot with 1 Tablespoon butter.
  4. Bake in a moderately hot oven of 375 degrees F., for 45 minutes.

To Serve: Serve hot or cold with whipped cream if desired.
