Angel Biscuits (No Rising Necessary)
Recipe type: Breads and Rolls
Serves: 1 batch
  • 1 cake yeast
  • 2 Tablespoons lukewarm water
  • 5 Cups plain flour
  • 1 teaspoon soda
  • 2 Cups buttermilk
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 4 Tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 Cup shortening
  1. Dissolve yeast in water.
  2. Into a bowl, sift flour with other dry ingredients. Cut in shortening, add buttermilk, then add yeast mixture. Stir until all flour is dampened.
  3. Knead on floured board a minute, roll to desired thickness, and cut with a biscuit cutter.
  4. Bake at 400 degrees F. about 12 minutes.
  5. Dough may be kept refrigerated and used about a week.
