Today's #FoodHoliday is National #PEPPERONIPIZZA DAY..a little history on Pepperoni...it's not Italian, it's ItalianAmerican..the word and type of spicy cured sausage it is has roots in Italy..many regions down south make versions of a chile laced cured salami/sausage, esp in Calabria and Basilicata. The word PEPPERONI is ItalianAmerican, made up here...in Italy if you pronounce it, they will think you mean PEPERONI, which are peppers.
