The Watermelon Mint Julep is a Southern delight, combining the refreshing flavor of the melon with the smokey refined taste of Bourbon, with just a hint of peach and citrus to complement the mint.  Simply wonderful.

  • 2 ounces watermelon juice, fresh, seedless
  • 1 ounce Bourbon, preferably Woodford Reserve
  • 1 ounce Citrus Simple Syrup (recipe follows)
  • 1/2 ounce peach schnapps
  • mint sprig and leaves for garnish
Citrus Simple Syrup
  • 1 Cup mint leaves
  • 1 Cup sugar
  • 1/2 Cup water
  • 1/2 Cup lemon juice
  1. In mixing glass, combine watermelon juice, bourbon, simple syrup and peach schnapps. Mix together; pour over crushed ice. Garnish with mint sprig.
Citrus Simple Syrup
  1. Combine mint, sugar, water and lemon juice in sauce pan; boil until sugar is dissolved. Strain. Store in the refrigerator for up to two months.
