The exceptional Planter’s Punch is one of the great reminders of the days of pirates, sugar plantations, rum traders and slavers who made the Caribbean their home. The end of these institutions changed the area into a tourist mecca where great mixologists created drinks to celebrate the region’s history.

Planter's Punch
Recipe type: Punches

Serves: 1
  • 1 ounce dark Rum
  • 1/2 ounce Grenadine
  • 2 ounces orange juice
  • 2 Tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon powdered sugar
  • 3 ounces club soda
  • cracked ice
  • ice cubes
  • maraschino cherry
  • orange slice
  1. In a large container, combine all of the ingredients and stir to dissolve the concentrates.
  2. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
  3. Pour over crushed ice in tall Collins or Hurricane glasses.
