With the flavor of a delicious blackberry dessert, my Old Fashioned Rye Cobbler is sure to please anyone who enjoys a fresh, fruity drink with superb taste.  The soda adds a sparkling brilliance that entices the palate and enlivens the drink.

  • 8 to 12 fresh blackberries (depending on size), washed, stems and leaves removed (two reserved for garnish)
  • brown sugar cube or a packet of Sugar in the Raw (white sugar cube is acceptable)
  • dash orange bitters
  • ice
  • 2 1/2 ounces Rittenhouse Rye (generous pour)
  • seltzer or soda
  1. Add sugar to a mixing glass and dash in the bitters. Add the berries and muddle till fully crushed. Add ice.
  2. Pour in the rye and stir well.
  3. Strain into an Old Fashioned or rocks glass with ice.
  4. Top with seltzer or soda.
  5. Garnish with fresh berries (either in the drink or on a stirrer).
