The Old Fashioned dates back to 1806. A doctor’s remedy from Hudson, NY, it didn’t get its name til 1880. The taste is delicious, with earthy, sweet and tropical, citrus flavors gently appeasing the palate. By 1860, the recipe was being modified by bartenders around the US, who added orange curaçao, absinthe or other liqueurs, creating a range of variations, many still popular today.
