Mulled Cider is a wonderful beverage for the end of the autumn season, when the weather turns cold and you crave a warm, comforting beverage. A perfect punch to soothe the soul.

Serves: 6 servings
  • 5 Cups cider
  • 1/4 Cup lemon juice
  • 1/4 Cup lightly packed brown sugar
  • 4 whole cloves
  • 1 1/2 inch piece cinnamon stick
  • 1 1/2 inch piece dry ginger root
  • freshly grated nutmeg
  1. Combine the cider, lemon juice and brown sugar in a stainless steel pot.
  2. Heat the mixture slowly to the simmering point.
  3. Meanwhile, tie the cloves, cinnamon stick and ginger root together in a piece of cheesecloth.
  4. Add the bag of spices to the simmering liquid and heat over low heat for 15 minutes.
  5. Remove the spice bag.
  6. Serve hot with a sprinkling of nutmeg in mugs.
