In wintry weather, one doesn’t usually think of ale as a warming drink, but Mulled Ale is certainly the exception, and offers incredible flavor, too.

Mulled Ale
Recipe type: Beers
Serves: 1
  • 2 pints brown ale
  • 1/2 Cup Brandy
  • 2 Tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cloves
  • 1 inch piece fresh ginger, peeled, grated
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 lemon, zested, juiced
  • 2 oranges, 1 - zested, juiced; 1 sliced thin for garnish
  • 2 Cups water
  1. Combine all ingredients in a large sauce pot Cook at a simmer for 10 minutes, stirring to completely dissolve sugar.
  2. Strain into mugs, garnish by floating orange slices on top.
