The Mai Tai is a delicious cocktail that fell victim to over-decoration in the 1940’s. Popularly topped with umbrellas, pineapple, berries and all sorts of things, the Mai Tai lost its focus as a delicious Hawaiian cocktail. Here it is without the garish garnishes.

Mai Tai
Recipe type: Alcoholic Cocktail
Cuisine: Hawaiian
Serves: 1
  • 1 ounce light Rum
  • 1/2 ounce orgeat syrup
  • 1/2 ounce Triple Sec
  • 1 1/2 ounces sweet and sour mix
  • 1 slice lime
  1. Shake all ingredients (except lime) with ice and strain into a rocks glass over several ice cubes.
  2. Top with the lime and serve.
