The Mai Tai is a delicious cocktail that fell victim to over-decoration in the 1940’s. Popularly topped with umbrellas, pineapple, berries and all sorts of things, the Mai Tai lost its focus as a delicious Hawaiian cocktail. Here it is without the garish garnishes.
- 1 ounce light Rum
- 1/2 ounce orgeat syrup
- 1/2 ounce Triple Sec
- 1 1/2 ounces sweet and sour mix
- 1 slice lime
- Shake all ingredients (except lime) with ice and strain into a rocks glass over several ice cubes.
- Top with the lime and serve.
