The pairing of apple and citrus is nothing new, though in the Harvard Cooler, they take on added dimension and impeccable credentials. Simple yet delightful.

- 2 fluid ounces carbonated water, plus more
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- 2 fluid ounces apple brandy, Calvados or Applejack
- 1 orange
- 1 lemon
- Pour 2 fluid ounces carbonated water in a Collins glass. Add powdered sugar and stir. Add ice cubes and apple brandy.
- Fill with carbonated water and stir again. Add the twist of lemon peel and the spiral of orange so that the end dangles over rim of glass.
