In our own sour recipe, we replace the sugar with ginger liqueur, which adds an exotic kick. The resulting creation has a bright spicy note that plays well with the whiskey. If you make your own ginger liqueur, this provides one of the best cocktails for its use.
- 1 1/2 ounces ginger liqueur
- 1 ounce blended whiskey
- juice of 1/2 lemon
- 1 maraschino cherry
- Put the cherry in the bottom of a martini glass.
- Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
- Shake vigorously and strain over the cherry into the glass.
