Apricot Liqueur I

Apricot liqueur is one of the favorite components of mixed drinks. Soothing, warming and relaxing, it makes a great drink, retaining its fruity flavor.
Ingredients
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 2 drieds apricot halves
  • 1 tablespoon almond extract
  • 1/2 cup pure grain alcohol and
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 bottle brandy
  • 3 drops yellow food coloring
  • 6 drops red food coloring
  • 2 drops blue food coloring
  • 1/2 teaspoon glycerine
Instructions
  1. Combine sugar and 3/4 Cup water in small saucepan. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Reduce heat and simmer until all sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat and cool.
  2. In aging container, combine apricot halves, almond extract, pure grain alcohol with the 1/2 Cup water, and brandy. Stir in cooled sugar syrup mixture. Cap and let age 2 days.
  3. Remove apricot halves. (Save apricot halves, as they may be used in cooking). Add food coloring and glycerine. Stir, recap, and continue aging for 1 to 2 months.
  4. Re-bottle as desired. Liqueur is ready to serve but will continue to improve with additional aging.
Notes
Ready in 1 to 2 months. Makes slightly less than 1 fifth.
