Kind of Old Fashioned

A sprightly variation on the traditional Old Fashioned, this version adds a sparkle to every sip.
  • 2 ounces Bulleit Rye whiskey
  • 1/2 ounce Grand Mariner liqueur
  • 1 sugar cube
  • 3 dashes blood orange bitters
  • 1 orange slice
  • 1 or 2 brandy cherries
  • club soda for topping
  1. Place a sugar cube into tumbler.
  2. Drop dashes of bitters directly onto the sugar cube and allow to soak in a few seconds.
  3. Add the cherry and orange slice.
  4. Muddle till liquified.
  5. Add rocks (ice).
  6. Add the Grand Mariner.
  7. Add rye whiskey.
  8. Top with club soda.
  9. Stir till perfection (or gently shake).
  10. Serve to a soon to be deliriously pleased guest.
