Blueberry Liqueur 1
Author: Chief Mixologist
Blueberry liqueur is uncommonly used in mixed drinks and rarely appears on bar shelves, though it is by far a delicious liqueur with an exceptional appearance and flavor.
  • 3 Cups fresh blueberries or blackberries
  • 1 clove
  • 1/2 Cups thick sugar syrup (see recipe) to taste
  • 2 Cups vodka
  • 1 lemon wedge, scraped peel
  1. Rinse with cold water.
  2. Rinsed berries should be lightly crush.
  3. Add vodka, lemon peel, and clove.
  4. Pour in DARK bottle and store for 3-4 months.
  5. Strain through dampened cheesecloth squeezing out as much juice as possible.
  6. Add sugar syrup to taste and store another 4 weeks.
  7. The liqueur will tend to be on the watery side.
  8. Try adding glycerine if a thicker consistency is desired.
  9. Good for baking.
Blueberries can be bought in season (May to September). Avoid stained baskets and DO NOT rinse until ready to use. If freezing, do so BEFORE rinsing.
