Apple Liqueur
Many commercial apple liqueurs use a green food tint, but this purist version is clear, with a slightly golden color. Full of rich, deep apple flavor, it makes a great component in cocktails and desserts.
Recipe type: Liqueurs
Serves: 1 bottle
  • 1 pound Red Delicious apples or other sweet apple
  • 2 whole cloves
  • 1 pinch cinnamon
  • 2 Cups vodka or brandy
  • 1 Cup sugar syrup
  1. Cut apples in halves or quarters and remove the cores but do not peel.
  2. Place apples, cloves, cinnamon and alcohol in a bottle and let steep for 2 weeks.
  3. Strain and filter. Add sugar syrup.
  4. Mature for 2-3 months.
Your apples should be organically grown, and their skins not waxed. If possible, buy fresh apples from a farm market rather than those in supermarkets to ensure the finest flavor in this liqueur.
