Native variety grown in Hungary. Once used as the main ingredient in “Egri Bikaver” (ie. “Bulls-blood), that countries best-known dry red wine blend. Currently the wine is a round, medium-bodied effort that ages fairly well (although the main ingredient is currently wine from the Blaufr√§nkisch variety). The variety is also currently widely grown in Bulgaria where it is known as the Gamza variety.
