Customer Rating: Summary: A good read! Comment: I only got round to reading this book last month. I liked the Lost Symbol, thought DVC was ok, and really didn't enjoy Angels and Demons at all! But Digital Fortress was something of a surprise. It's really well written and tightly plotted, a great little thriller, and it would make an excellent movie.... If you are one of the few people on the planet who hasn't read anything by Dan Brown, try this one!
Customer Rating: Summary: Pulp Fiction Comment: Why has there been so much hype about Dan Brown being a brilliant write or are the literary critics in the newspapers paid big bucks by the publishers for promoting this rubbish. This was the first Dan Brown book I've read and it will definitely be my last. It's pulp fiction for the D minus society. The characters and plot are so thin and unrealistic it makes the whole reading experience pointless, the book may appeal to a teenager but not an adult. Don't bother.
Customer Rating: Summary: exciting story Comment: He is always Dan Brown who let you feel that you are a member of the story .. I like it
Customer Rating: Summary: Average thriller Comment: Seeing as there are lots of reviews on this book, i will only say that you can either love it or absolutely hate it. Thus, i m not at all surprised by the difference of opinions while reading some of the reviews here. Myself, as shown by the 3 stars given, chose the middle neutral ground. I only read this book (probably like many other readers here)cause of the author's name. Normally, i d stay well clear from these type of thrillers. To the author's credit, he manages to write about a difficult subject, and make it a simple and interesting read. And i dont really care if some technicalities are full of flaws that may offend some computer experts, after all this is pure fiction. What i didnt like was the characters are a perfect carbon copy of those more famous in The DaVinci Code, both the good and the bad guys. And the ending was so poor and sloppy, that the writer tried to save face by writing the final chapter that in my opinion made no sense whatsoever.
Customer Rating: Summary: Good narrator Comment: This review is for the abridged audiobook
Having read the book Digital Fortress few years ago, I decided to buy the audiobook to listen to in the car. I really enjoyed the book. It's not my favourite Dan Brown, but it's a close third.
There are 3 CDs and the narrator is Bruce Sabbath. He has numerous accents to do as well as umpteen different character voices and on the whole, I thought he did an excellent job of this. The only accent which wasn't believable was that of the French Canadian. The rest, especially the Japanese voices were very believable. I actually thought Bruce Sabbath might be Japanese!
It's a fast paced thriller with the trademark Dan Brown chases and 11th hour escapes from death for the heroes. I give it four stars because I get slightly annoyed with too many death escapes!
