Editorial Reviews:

The U100 has selected a 10" wide LCD display as oppose to the typical smaller sizes to provide better comfort while viewing or reading. In addition, the high resolution can relief concerns of the full display of web pages while browsing, giving you the freedom when exploring the Internet. The U100 is embedded with the LED power-saving backlight technology in providing better color fullness and brightness, elevating the total quality of imagery. Furthermore, the lower usage of power can offer a longer operating time. The U100 is equipped with the capability of magnifying text within software, so you may magnify any of the words displayed on the monitor freely, making it easier when you are viewing photos, editing or reading documents. The U100 has the 802.11b/g wireless all region Internet connection and Bluetooth transmission interface, so you can enjoy the convenience of accessing the Internet at home or out. There will be absolutely no obstacles getting around your daily life.

Summary: Great bang for your buck / dollar / Euro / Peso / etc.
Comment: I travel for work, and require a personal computer while on the road (to pay bills, manage personal e-mail accounts, surf the web, etc.) The MSI Wind is perfect for what I need - it is small, has sufficient battery life, and is surprisingly capable (I installed Vista on mine, and it runs great ... but note, I installed an extra 1GB of memory, which definitely helps with Vista's performance - not sure what this does to my warranty, but I'm glad I did it) I have installed Macromedia Studio, Quicken 2007, and several other programs and the machine runs fine.

My only gripe is with the size of the 6 cell battery - it protrudes from the back of the case, making the PC a little thicker when closed. This is a trade off for increased battery life, of course, so it is easy to overlook.

The keyboard is great - a bit small, but I am able to type quite fast on it. Wireless capabilities are great, USB ports are sufficient, screen quality is great and the inclusion of a memory card reader was a nice surprise.

If you need an inexpensive, basic PC for travel, or accessing the web from the couch via wireless, this is a great, stable, dependable solution. I highly recommend.

Summary: Solid netbook
Comment: I bought this netbook for the sole reason of taking notes during classes. It's small and comes with its own soft case which makes it perfect for sliding in a bag whenever you think you may need it. It's light so you can barely notice you're carrying it around. I got the 6-cell battery and it is awesome having 5.5 to 6 hours of battery life on one charge.

The wind also has the ability to run a couple older games. I spend a lot of class times playing Starcraft or Warcraft 4. The built in blue tooth allows me to just turn on my mouse and it's working.

The one negative I have with it is the trackpad. MSI pulled the old bait and switch by starting by selling touchpads by sentillic, a well known touch pad maker which had the side scroll on it (drag your finger down the right side of the pad to scroll pages). Now they are shipping these with a less known brand of touch pad, and due to patents can't include the drag scroll method. One other quarrel I have with the touch pad is that the physical right and left click is on the same bar. They are not separate buttons.

Summary: I LOVE IT!
Comment: I am disabled and use to have a PDA to keep track of everything. The PDA was getting to dificult to see and enter info. so I purchased the MSI wind and I love it. It does everything I need and is light enough to carry around. So far I haven't found any cons.

Summary: The little engine that could
Comment: What can I say? I have been in the market for netbook for a while and after constant research and comparing I went with the MSI Wind U100. It barely beat out the mini from Dell that I was going to choose as the extra 2 inches in screen real estate made we go with the MSI. All I can really say is that this little guy can pretty much process anything my Dell 15.4" laptop Latitude (2 gig RAM) can do. The display is fantastic (bright), the keyboard layout is functional and the battery life (6 Cell Version) is adequate enough for basic laptop duties. One drawback is the pointer keypad right-left button which seems too small and is one piece, its easy to miss and press the wrong buttom at times. The WiFi seems too at times to lose itself for no reason but this is very not often. I kept Win XP on it and it has run pretty much run every program I have installed on it. It's light weight makes its so easy to carry and take anywhere. It is now my main workhorse PC at the office. It will do what it was made for and do it well. It is good deal in my view.
