Comment: It arrived faster than expected. Set up was simple, and it has worked perfectly since I got it about 6 weeks ago. It is more compact than my first external hard drive that is only 100 GB. No lag time in retrieving data. Great deal at the price.

Comment: This external is great for storing music and videos that just take up space on your computer. I have had a previous external for about 5 years but the fan went out, so I bought this Iomega. It is a lot quiter than my old one, and the fan doesn't run whetehr it is loading or not. The white light on the side looks really nice, and the overall appearance is great. It's very compact, and for what I paid, I couldn't be happier. It has a hard shut down on th back as well which is good for convience when I leave for the day. Overall, a great product, highly recommended!!

Summary: Hard Drive Dead on Arrival
Comment: Received the Iomega drive opened box and set it up. The hard drive was not recognizeable by my notebook. I contacted Iomega support via online chat which is their only free support option and I spent 30 min. troubleshooting the situation. Support Tech determined it was an Iomega product problem. Had to box up the harddrive and mail it ($6.00 shipping) to Iomega support. Several days later they sent me a replacement refurb unit. Seems to be working fine now. Hoping it lasts for the long term.

Summary: Great drive compared to a similar Lacie
Comment: Well I bought this drive after the Lacie I had originally bought kept getting I/O errors when used on an iMac with Time Machine. I repartitioned the drive twice and also did a disk test which all came out fine, but after approx 5 days of use each time the Lacie would hang. I suspected a "sleep" issue since the I/O errors always coincided with it sleeping.
Anyway, after checking the Web site for IOMega which assured me that ALL their drives were iMac/Time Machine compatible I bought this. First thing I noticed was how quiet the drive was compared to the Lacie. The Lacie I had to hide behind the desk, it was that loud. This drive sits behind my iMac and although you do hear a little disk noise it really is negligible. The other important thing is that its worked perfectly with Time Machine for the last month, without any errors. Does exactly what it was bought for.
One last thing. The build quality was phenomenal compared to the Lacie I bought. Nice metal like casing that matches the iMac nicely. Nice solid feel to it. And to top it all it WAS CHEAPER than the Lacie.
Those who want to use this drive for iMac should SERIOUSLY consider this!
