Customer Rating: Summary: 3.5 Stars for Trend Micro Internet Security Pro! Comment: I have been using Norton before trying Trend Micro Internet Security for as long as I can remember, and I'm sorry to say that I think it's going to stay that way. I don't hate this product at all and it does include many more things that Norton does not. I just don't feel I need them and it really slows down my computer. I would compare it to Norton 360. The Norton Live and the anti-virus protection is all I need. Someone who does a lot with finances may find this item well worth while.
There was a little problem for me with the install because it was a different product than the Norton 360. It kept de-installing itself even when I de-insalled the Norton. I wasn't sure why because I was following the directions. I chalked it up to not being extremely computer savvy. But, I noticed that after Googling, I wasn't the only one with this problem. It would stop in the middle of loading and it would also shut down my computer. I've never had that problem with the other product, so I started getting a little nervous. But, I was determined to get this to work. When I did, I wish I didn't. It was S-L-O-W and really not acting like it always does. In the end, I uninstalled it and bought another year of my "usual", which is fine with me. I love it for what I use my computer for.
If you need all of the "extras" that are included in this little box or if you do finances, then again, I'm sure you might want to give it a try. I on the other hand am going to pass and stick with what I'm used to. Thank you Vine Program for giving me the opportunity and I will continue to bring you my honest opinion.
Customer Rating: Summary: Light and secure Comment: I have used Mcafee AntiVirus in various versions since 1992 and never saw a need to shift to other products.
I decided to give Trend a try and install it as I have see other products and realized they are heavy on the memory.
The installation process of ISP is easy, fast and without any complications.
It has been running on my laptop for a while now without any problems in the speed or the updates or detection process.
I tried several bad websites to see what it can detect as I run windows as a VM on my MAC and this product detected almost all the security threats from those websites.
I will keep it running for the next 2 months at least and will update the review in case of any changes
Customer Rating: Summary: Scan provides no feedback Comment: The everyday functions of the software work well. Trend Micro does a much better job of managing resources than some of the other top virus protection applications. The only time that you really notice that it is running is when it is retrieving an update from the server or scanning your entire hard drive. The updates don't take that long but they seem to happen a little more often than I would like them too. I'm not sure if these updates are virus definition updates, application updates, or a combination of both.
The system scan doesn't take a significant amount of resources but it also provides ZERO feedback to the user, unless you count a spinner in the user interface. There is absolutely no indication as to how many files have been scanned, how many still need to be scanned, or any other indication as to how long this will take. I let it run for two hours the other night and it still had not finished.
Customer Rating: Summary: Internet Security PRO Comment: The installation was easy, and this program has already detected several suspicious files on my computer. I highly recommend this product.
Customer Rating: Summary: Nice Upgrade Comment: I installed Internet Security Pro on my 2003 IBM Thinkpad x24, running Windows XP Pro on approximately 768mb of RAM.
This computer has been through a lot. I've tried any number of virus, adware, and spyware programs in the past, including Norton, Spybot, McAfee, Adaware, and AVG Free edition. As more and more rootkits and different types of spyware programs get created, I was constantly on the prowl for a free solution.
I've been pretty happy with AVG Free but the opportunity to try ISP has been a solid one. The nice thing about a program like ISP is that it's a one-stop all in one service. Gone are the days of needing separate programs to block popups, scan websearches for malicious content, clean your registry, and scan emails. This product pretty much has everything. I was able to uninstall lots of old software when I installed ISP. A few of the features weren't much use to me, as I don't have children or need to remotely lock files.
What I like:
-Virus defnitions constantly update. You can customize this. Better still, unlike other programs, downloading the update doesn't seem to drag my computer down.
- All-in one product. Yay for this!
- Anti-theft protection. I'm not too worried about this anymore, but in the days of college, this would be a big bonus. When you think about what kind of important life documents you keep on your computer, having a way to secure them is pretty nice.
What I didn't like:
-Similar to other users, installation was not the "breeze" it could, or should have been.
-It's a bit of a memory hog and I'm anticipating needing to installed a new 1gb memory module to keep up with the demand.
-Web filter/security feature does tend to slow down browsing somewhat.
