Many accessories are available for Klean Kanteens. All caps and lids are interchangable with all sizes of Klean Kanteens and we only use non-leaching Polypropylene #5 (PP#5) in our caps and lids. Both the loop and flat caps have stainless steel bases to prevent plastic from coming in contact with your beverage.

Summary: Better than the poly loop cap
Comment: After reading some negative reviews about the steel cap, I ordered my bottle with the poly cap instead. I was quickly unsatisfied with the poly cap because it retains the smell of whatever soap you used to wash it. I then ordered the steel cap and I found that it was far superior.
Not only does the steel cap wash cleanly without any residue or leftover smell, but it actually covers the entire lip of the bottle opening. The poly cap does not and it leaves this part exposed. This is important because this is where your lips are actually touching when you drink from the bottle.
I only hand-wash my steel cap, so I haven't had any of the water-retention problems that I've read about in other reviews.

Comment: Great cap - if you're going to invest in a stainless bottle, go the extra mile and get the stainless cap, too. A bit pricey, but it's worth it.

Summary: Warning! liquid will remain in the cap!
Comment: If you ever put this cap in the dishwasher, or submerge in water for a few hours, the water leaks into the cap and has no way to clean it out. They need to recall this cap, as potentially toxic liquid can stay inside the lid, and leaks into your bottle. It is too bad, because otherwise, the wide cap is really easy to open and close.

Summary: Love the concept, hate the construction
Comment: The stainless steel inner part of the cap separated from the plastic top loop part of the cap, it needs some sort of adhesive to join them together which I might do myself. So don't think you can clip a full 40oz. klean canteen to a carbiner and then to your backpack with one of the Stainless Loop Caps because you will drop the bottle eventually if you are trekking some where or being extreme or intense. Also the worst part is that in order to prevent the bottle from leaking with this cap, you have to tighten the cap so much that the leverage of the threads of the bottle pull the cap apart, very frustrating.

Summary: stainless steel or polypropylene?
Comment: For some reason, I thought a polypropylene flat cap came standard with the Klean Kanteen water bottle which is why I bought this stainless steel loop cap. I was surprised when my water bottle came with a stainless flat cap. Nevertheless, I like the loop cap better than the flat cap. It is easier to screw on and off and to carry the bottle with. It is too expensive though. Make sure you order it with the bottle at the same time so you don't have to pay for extra shipping.
