Comment: I've got this lamp about a year ago at joann fabric store and I really love it. It stands next to my computer, and I can adjust the height so it will cast light on the keyboard and on my hands and not to be bothered by bright light shining in my eyes. I do a lot of knitting and other crafting there by my computer now since I have this lamp. It is very sturdy, the height adjusts and stays the way you put it, which is not always happen with this type of lamps. You can rotate the "arm" the shade is attached to, and you can also adjust the angle for the shade. I was looking to buy a craft lamp and heard that ott-light is good, but after comparing them side by side at the store, I did not hesitate to choose Normande lamp for it sturdiness, good looks, and of course price (about two times cheaper).

Summary: Great little work lamp
Comment: Very good lamp for your money. Comes wih a fluorescent bulb that saves electricity. You can tilt the shade how you want it using the band right next to the shade (the band doesn't heat up at all, so tilting it isn't painful, unlike some cheapo lamps) and adjust the height of the stand. When all the way up it's 51". I use it as a floor lamp next to the computer, often the only light in a dark room at night. It would also be an excellent reading lamp. Also, I like the weight (medium) and look (dull gold color with a nice antique finish, and has the style of an old-fashioned office lamp). It's a quality piece for a budget cost. We've been using it for 2 weeks without a problem and assembly was easy as pie. The only catch is that it's more of an office or study look than a living room look, but it would even work in a modern living room.

Summary: Good lamp for plants and budgies!
Comment: It works. It was easy to assemble. The base is heavy enough to withstand our active household and stay upright. The light is over Junior's cage, (Junior is our budgie) which contains a sun-loving yarrow plant. Both Junior and the yarrow plant are doing well, and much of their comfort is due to this lamp because we live on the ground floor and have little natural light at all. I can rotate the lamp head to simulate "sunrise" and "sunset". The lamp is working very well for this unique application. I wish it was less expensive, which is the only reason I gave it three stars. It is performing at a five-star level.
