Editorial Reviews:

Fairies are rare and wonderful creatures, difficult to find and even harder to get to know. So, rather than waiting to meet fairies in the wild, we like to make our own. Fortunately, homemade fairies are just as cute as the real thing – maybe cuter. With our classic craft book Fairies, these tiny sprites couldn’t be easier to make. Simply follow the step-by-step directions to bend wire for the fairy’s body, choose some fabric flowers for a petal-perfect dress, and top with a bead head and flowing floss hair. Adorable! All the craft supplies you need are here – from beads and flowers to colored pencils and even glue. Depending on the combinations of materials you select, the variety of fairies you can create is endless. Even a fairy can use a make-over once in a while, so we waved our wand and gave the book cover a fresh new look. In keeping with its subject, Fairies has a relatively diminutive trim size, but don’t let that fool you. This little book is mega-fun.

Summary: Our least favorite Klutz book
Comment: Our opinion is the dissenting one, but we really didn't like this kit one bit. In fact, we put it away in frustration last summer, then got it out this summer to try again. Now, my 8-yr-old daughter and I are despising it all over again this year.

Why? (1) The wires that are supposed to make up the fairy legs tend to unravel. Once they do, you can't use them (we're currently waiting for the glue to dry as we tried to glue the covering back to the wire.) (2) The embroidery thread came pre-tangled, saving us the trouble of making our own mess out of it. (3) The gold embroidery thread unravels while you're using it. (4) Not much room for using your imagination . . . you're really just choosing from a very few pre-selected pieces of artificial flowers and a half dozen fuse-bead-sized beads. (5) The bits are small and finicky and require excellent dexterity and vision. (6) There aren't nearly enough flower pieces to make lavish fairies like those pictured on the cover of the book.

Finally, after all the frustration and fuss of the dealing with tiny beads, unraveling wire, tangled floss, and skimpy selection of flower pieces etc, the end result is a disappointment. What'cha gonna do with a lumpy, unraveling, glue-globbed, half-dressed mess of a flower fairy?

Summary: Very Easy & Fun for Kids and Adults!!
Comment: These fairies are so easy to make and very fun! Everything you need, even glue, comes in this kit except hair.If you have yarn or ribbon you will be all set,or you can draw on the hair and glue a hat made from almost anything you can think up on top. The only tools suggested are nail clippers for cutting the floral wire and small plires or tweezers to help in bending.I also like to make jewelry and already had all of the wire bending and cutting tools. You can get a set of them in the craft section and they are inexpensive. My daughter and I love doing crafts together and this is something we both enjoyed making. You do not have to be crafty to make these fairies and I think they would be an awesome scool project for teachers. All of the supplies you need to make these are inexpensive and can be easily found at craft stores.A few ideas had for these fairies is maybe get some of the little floral stakes and attatch them to put in potted plants,or they could be scaled down and used as jewelry or hair accessories. They would also look very cute decorating a gift or card.Highly reccomend this book for a fun evening!!

Summary: SO incredibly fun! Best Klutz book yet!
Comment: My 7 year old loved loved loved this book. It came with tons and tons of great pages to make all kinds of fairies. Easy, yet creative! I also love that Klutz gives you tons of other ideas of how to make fairies without the products included. They are basically getting you started with the products provided in the book, then they show you tons of other great fairy making ideas. Possibilites are endless! Yay for Klutz!
