Summary: Watch That Index Finger
Comment: So, I was trolling iTunes one day, checking out the newest country music releases, and I came across something called iTunes Country Essentials. So I clicked on it, and one of the songs was by this guy I'd never heard of named Chuck Wicks. And I liked it. So -- click -- I bought it. Then I thought I'd check out his album, and started listening to samples. Oh, that's a great song. Click. That one's nice, too. Click. So is that one. Click. And suddenly I'd gotten almost every song and had paid more than if I'd just bought the whole dang album to start with. Oh, well, not too bright. But the bottom line is, I love this guy's voice and the songs he sings. This is catchy, heartfelt, bop-your-head-and-tap-your-feet kind of country, along the lines of Rascal Flatts and Sugarland. OK, maybe not as brilliant as Sugarland, but real good stuff. So check Chuck out, but don't be dumb like me; save yourself money and time and give that index finger a rest.

Summary: Excellent Debut CD
Comment: I had heard Chuck Wicks' first two singles "Stealing Cinderella" and "All I ever Wanted" and really liked them. So then I got the chance to see him perform at the Neon Armadillo and all I can say is I was blown away by him. I made sure I bought this CD the very next day and I love every song on it. Which is not usual for me, usually I will like a few songs, not the entire CD but not so with Chuck Wicks. He is an up and coming star and I see a bright future for him.

Summary: A Pleasant Surprise
Comment: I'll be honest- I put off buying the debut album from Chuck Wicks, "Starting Now," for a very long while. It was always one of those albums that seemed like a good idea but I simply didn't think would be worth buying. The only song I knew was the hit "Stealing Cinderella." The single itself was not enough for me to make the purchase, simply because I heard it way too much on the radio if nothing else. However, with the release of the second single from the album, "All I Ever Wanted," plus my discovery of the song "If We Loved" through MySpace, I decided to pick it up on the same day I purchased Jimmy Wayne's new CD, titled "Do You Believe Me Now." I had much higher hopes for the newest title by Wayne than I did the somewhat dated release by Wicks. I couldn't have been more wrong- I absolutely love almost every song from "Starting Now". My favorites are the aforementioned single, "All I Ever Wanted," as well as "Good Time Comin' On", "If We Loved," "Starting Now," "The Easy Part," and "What If You Stay." Any of these could easily make it big on the radio. "If We Loved" is an extremely catchy tune that reminds us of how the world could be if everyone loved each other rather than fighting and locking our doors- the song goes a completely different direction than the title most likely has you thinking as a sappy love song. However, Wicks did not abandon the stereotypical country love song as that element comes through on "Starting Now" and "What If You Stay," but he pulls it off with a very unique sound. The CD is very worth buying for those songs- the rest of the titles are so-so, but "Starting Now" is still a must-have for any fan of country.
