Join the always cool Spike, investigative genius Jet, the fabulous Faye, the amazing (but weird) Ed and the super-smart Welsh Corgi named Ein as they try to make a buck in the year 2071. Customer Rating: Summary: Classic anime at its best! Comment: Ten years ago, Cowboy Bebop landed on Earth, and even today, it is still regarded as a top-notch anime. Here is the lowdown on the anime itself and the features this DVD collection has.
THE PREMISE: Coeboy Bebop is set in the future where people many of the other planets besides Earth, which is in ruins. The show is set in different planets and in space, where Spike Spiegel and Jet Black, two bounty hunters, capture criminals for money. Spike is a fighter who is a smooth talker with a cloudy past, while Jet is a former cop with an artificial arm. Other people join them later on, such as the 'data dog' Ein, Faye Valentine, the woman without a past, and Ed (who is a girl,) who is just odd. In some episodes, Spike has to face his past, but otherwise, it involves bounty hunting, filled with plenty of action. Music is also a strong point in this anime, with jazzy instrumentals and the fact that every episode is either named after a song, (i.e. "Bohemian Rhapsody" and "Honky Tonk Women") or has a musical reference. The opening, "Tank!" will also get stuck in your head.
VOICE ACTING: A stereotype of anime is that the English voices are never good. However, that is not the case here. Spike's calm, cool, and collected voice fits perfectly with his character, and all the others' fit perfectly, also. However, if you still hate English, the Japanese tracks are available.
THE DVD: It has six discs with all the episodes in it, save for the movie, which takes place between the fifth and sixth disc. The artwork on the DVD's look nice, however, the special features aren't really that great. I've kind of grown out of audio commentaries.
BUY?: If you love anime, this is for you, so I say buy. You should also get the movie, which is also enjoyable.
Customer Rating: Summary: Buy This For Someone..Now. Comment: You'll certainly get your $30-45 bucks worth easily.
"I think it's time to blow this scene. Get everybody and the stuff together. Ok, three, two, one let's jam,"
The main character of Cowboy Bebop is a 27-year-old stoic, laid back, relaxing, bounty hunter who is a genius when it comes to street smarts. Spike Spiegel is a ground breaking protagonist who breaks the mold of traditional anime heroes. The wonderful thing about Cowboy Bebop is that it seems as if is geared towards a mature audience without being over graphic or push the proverbial envelope. With the exception of Ed, the characters of this anime are all over 25 which is a nice relief after watching animes where many of the main characters are either in high school or younger then 18.
I love this anime, which is an understatement in itself. Now that you can own this series in it's entirety for under 40.00, in one convenient high quality package it is certainly worth it. Pick up Cowboy Bebop, watch it with a loved one that would not normally be interested in anime. You won't regret it.
Customer Rating: Summary: So Good I bought It Twice! Comment: Every other review that speaks well of this collection states definitively that this really is an amazingly solid buy...
So the funny thing about this is... I watched all of them on Cartoon Network back when it Aired.
Then I purchased this DVD set and watched it with my wife...
And I saw it about 6 months later (forgetting that I had already purchased it) and bought it again...
So the question is...
Did I send the second copy back (or sell it on ebay or something like that).
The answer is no...
Why?
Because it is so good I have no problem paying them for it twice...
Get this a enjoy yourself to the fullest...
The space mushroom episode is the best!
I hope you like this as much as I do!
Customer Rating: Summary: worth the purchase Comment: This is definately worth it. Although, don't get too worked up on the prospects of that "bonus Session #0" because it's just a behind the scenes making of documentary. Otherwise, get it, enjoy it, play the hell out of it if need be.
Customer Rating: Summary: An Anime Fan's Must-have. Comment: I truly don't want to make this a long review, and I know that you don't wish to waste your time reading a long review, so let's put this anime up for review.
Character developement is superb. (You actually feel for the characters after viewing for long enough.)
Soundtrack is original and catchy, and perfect for the Cowboy BeBop universe.
Plot. Well, Spike's a bounty hunter, so we follow his quirky adventures all about the galaxy, a very smooth and entertaining plot up until the grand finale.
Grand Finale, this is one of the greatest and most emotional endings in just about any anime. (Second only to End of Evangelion.) The ending is thought provoking and just a masterpiece.
Picture Quality, is well done and never painful to look at, very beatiful.
Overall. This anime is a perfect 5 out of 5, with a low price tag and Spike and gang who will always be with you even after the final words are uttered.
You're gonna carry that weight.
