Summary: A Slushin' Good Time
Comment: When I first saw her video for "Sounds So Good", I didn't think much of the song at the time. I liked her first single "Takin' Off This Pain" but I didn't hear enough of it to warrant buying the CD. However, after a second watch of the video for "Sounds So Good" and the catchy refrain of "Nothing like the sound of real country music, c'mon turn it up," I was completely hooked. After listening to some of the snippets on the CD, I decided to buy the entire album and I'm VERY happy with that purchase. This is real country music and Ashton is nothing short of amazing with her songwriting skills and twangy, wonderful voice. I mean, c'mon, who can come up with a line like "There ain't nothing like the sound of a cooler slushin' on the bed of your truck" and not sound cheesy??? You got it, Ashton Shepherd, and I think she will be around for a LONG time coming.

Summary: Ashton Shepherd fills a void in country music
Comment: Ashton Shepherd fills a void in country music and does a great job at it! It's time for a return to more traditional country music without all the fluff and nonsense. Shepherd's songs are refreshingly unpretentious without being overly simple and her voice easily floats from ballads to more uptempo tunes. I caught her set at CMA Fest and she's as good live as she is recorded. This girl is the real deal!

Comment: The first time I played this CD I could not stop listening to it, I just kept playing it over and over. What a talent this girl is!
Listening to Ashton's music you can hear so many influences from Hank Williams to the Outlaw Country of Willie and Waylon to traditional country, yet in the end it can only be defined as Ashton Shepherd's music because there is no one else like her. This is pure country with an attitude, not the "bubble gum country" of Taylor Swift and so many others these days.
Ashton's voice and compositions are simply amazing.
Whatever music you buy this year, make sure that you buy this CD. Be fore warned tho, you won't be able to stop listenting to it.
I can't wait to see Ashton peform in person!

Comment: I think this is Ashton Shepherd's first CD. If this is any indication, she will be around for a long time. Great voice, great back up musicians. It all equals a quality country sound. Highly recommended.
