Customer Rating: Summary: a state of the art home/office shredder Comment: They are right, it is the quietest shredder I have ever heard. It will tell you when it can take more sheets at a time for improved efficiency. The safety shut off so you don't accidently shred your fingers may be overkill. I could not get my fingers in that slot, anyway. But it would be good for hair or ties - first thing you'd try to do is grab near the slot.
Not big enough for G.E. but it will do nicely for a home office. Glad I bought it.
Customer Rating: Summary: Wish I'd bought this one first! Comment: My first paper shredder was also a Fellowes--but a standard, cheapish, home office one. After years of wearing my hand out by shredding documents with scissors, I was thrilled just to have a paper shredder! My excitement lasted a very short time, as the typical shredder nightmare began and pretty soon all I had was a large, rather undecorative paper weight sitting in the corner of my office.
I was skeptical about purchasing this shredder--another Fellowes--but being that it got such great reviews and was guaranteed to be unjammable (I haven't seen any other shredder that claims this), I figured I'd give it a try.
We've had our new shredder for about a month--and I'm really very much in love with this little machine! First of all, it's a really good-looking shredder. It has a much sleeker and cleaner design than most office machinery.
Most importantly--I really don't see any way I can jam this one up. At the slightest hint of a jam, the machine shuts off, reverses, and refuses to move forward again until you pull out the offending item. There is even a "traffic light" of sorts that stays green if you are feeding in a correct amount of paper, yellow if the amount gets to be a bit much, and red if you've overdone it.
Accidentally feed paper in sideways? What would formerly have caused an awful, messy, diagonal-paper jam is no problem for this shredder, as it stops, thinks for a second, then powers through the crumpled, diagonal sheet.
I really love our new shredder. As geeky as it sounds, it makes shredding fun! I could sit here and feed this little guy all day!
Customer Rating: Summary: D.O.A. Comment: I took our new Fellowes Intellishred PS-79Ci Shredder carefully out of its box, set it up according to the directions, plugged it in - and right a way the red light indicating that the bin was not all the way closed came on. But the bin was closed and aligned properly. I checked and rechecked. No - it was in correctly. So I Called customer service. The rep was very nice, but he had no fixes for me other than returning it ASAP to Amazon. While talking to him, I found out that I could get the light to go out when I put a piece of cardboard into the switch-slot for the bin. But apparently, the piece of plastic that is supposed to do that does not go in far enough. That - or the metal piece that acts as the switch is broken off/too short. In any event - the shredder I waited two years to get, and was thrilled to see had solid ratings on Amazon.com, was dead on arrival. So after over ten years of being a loyal and satisfied Amazon customer - I am making my first return.
Customer Rating: Summary: Best Shredder I've had. Comment: This is the 4th shredder I have purchased. It is absolutely the best, strongest and quietest I have ever seen. Wheels make it easy to move and the waste container comes out the front so easy.
Buy one... you'll be very satified.
