Summary: Yes, It is good to be bad!
Comment: Really good new stuff from stalwart rockers Coverdale & Co. Tight with good riffs, excellent production, and musicianship. Probabbly the loudest studio album I've ever heard- don't need to turn up the speakers.. hits a ton right out of the box. Hope they tour The States.

Summary: Whitesnake is back with a vengeance
Comment: Whitesanke has never been my favorite band, but I was quite fond of "Slide It In", the self titled "Whitesanke" and "Slip of the Tongue" CDs. I hadn't followed their career since the early 90s, but I heard some real positive feedback for this CD so I listened to some sound bytes and liked what I heard. After purchasing this CD and listening to it a couple times I was blown away by how good it is. This album absolutely rocks, there are a couple of slow tunes, but for the most part the music is absolutely blistering, especially the guitar work of Aldrich and Beach. Time has also been good to David Coverdale's voice. Anyone who is a fan of 80's hard rock music and Whitesnake in particular I think will like this CD.

Comment: What else can I say? As a great fan of whitesnakes, I 100% support the opinion that this is the greatest album that Whitesnakes had produced after 1987 and Slip of the Tongue. Great songs and great musicians as well. For whitesnakes' fans out there I highly recommend you to buy this album as one of your collection. I bet that you won't be regret. For new whitesnakes' fans, listen to this album several times and I'm sure you will find out what sort of rock music that Whitesnakes want to introduce to you. Lastly you will enjoy listening to this album as I enjoyed it too.

Summary: Good to be Back
Comment: I had pretty high expectations for Whitesnake's 2008 comeback album Good to Be Bad. I enjoyed the early 80's blues-obsessed Whitesnake albums and loved the late 80's hair metal Whitesnake albums, so I expected Good to Be Bad to be a knockout combination of the two styles. When I popped the disc in the stereo, however, I didn't really hear anything I considered "classic Whitesnake", which was a bit disappointing. I think my expectations clouded my perceptions of this album, because after a few more spins I started to come around.
There isn't as much of the old bluesy Whitesnake here, and there really isn't any "hair metal" either. Likewise, this isn't some desperate attempt to redefine their sound. Whitesnake really doesn't have to prove anything at this point. This is an older, wiser, arena rocking Whitesnake. The songs definitely rock, but they're more refined and melodic, not overpowering like say Still of the Night was.
Overall, Good to Be Bad is a very solid album, but it is a bit uneven. It stumbles a bit at the beginning and towards the end, but starting with the third track (Call on Me) you get a good seven very impressive songs in a row, including the gorgeous slow songs Summer Rain and All I Want All I Need. I think the weakest song on the album may be the opening track Best Years. If they had opened the album with the song Good to Be Bad, a hook-heavy rocker that could have fit right in on the 1987 album, I'd probably have loved it from the start. Ending on such a mellow note might not have been the best choice either.
It took some getting used to, but I'm still a believer. Good to Be Bad is a welcome new chapter in the Whitesnake saga. David Coverdale remains in fine form, and though he sounds a bit restrained at times, given his age his voice still has plenty of power. Hopefully the band will bring their tour to Atlanta, because I'd love to see how this material translates live.
NOTE: I picked up the deluxe version of Good to Be Bad that had a bonus CD with a handful of live tracks. It's a nice bonus, and the quality of the material is on par with the bonus CD that came with the Whitesnake - Live in the Still of the Night (Deluxe) [DVD/CD Combo].

Summary: Truly the BEST YEARS of their lives
Comment: For as long as Good To Be Bad was happily welcomed on the wordwide music market, the fabulous riffs of the impressive 11 songs this masterpiece contains, are blasting out of my carspeakers every single day. If I have to describe the Whitesnake of 2008, in only one single word, it would be: FENOMENAL.
My absolute favorite track of this stunning revival album of the 57 (!!) years old David Coverdale and his more than talented companions, is BEST YEARS. The unique riffs of the superb sounding guitars, the structure of the composition, the flight upwards to the breathtaking guitarsolo, the marvelous throat of Coverdale and the overwelming drums and bass part that proudly ends this amazing rocksong.
My respect goes out to everybody in- and around this killer band, that was involved by creating this all time classic. Thanks you all !!!
BUY IT. Right now. The best album of the past 5 years.
