Customer Rating: Summary: So-so... Comment: I LOVED MY BAMBOO! It was easy to install and was soooo handy when drawing. However, the pen suddenly broke. The technical guide was vague and tedious about the diagnosis of the pen. I had to buy a new one.
Overall:
PRO's: FUN, easy to install/use, very handy when using on programs such as Adobe Photoshop, etc.
CON's: Must constantly re-install due to problems, and you have to buy an ENTIRELY new system if something goes wrong...
Customer Rating: Summary: Good pen functions - BE CAREFUL BEFORE YOU BUY THOUGH Comment: The pen functions as a substitute for a mouse very well.
The downside of the Bamboo Fun is really poor upfront information concerning what hardware and software are needed to make it work as advertised.
Many of the most heavily advertised features ONLY work with Vista and Office 2007. On XP and earlier versions of Office, the range of features is substantially less. This information is buried inside the documentation - which you can see only after you've bought the product.
Also - in order to use any of the bundled software, you will need a DVD drive. This requirement also is discovered only after you buy the product - it does not appear on the box.
The mouse is not very good - clunky and slow.
On the whole, I'm thinking of returning the Bamboo Fun, not so much because of the pen performance, but because of what appears to be intentionally omitted information concerning what software and hardware one needs to actually utilize the most heavily advertised features.
Customer Rating: Summary: The Stylus pen is not really very reliable Comment: I only had the fun pad for two weeks and the stylus pen quit working had to buy a replacement. The stylus wiring is not very well soldered. I am very dissappointed in how quickly I had to buy a new stylus.
Customer Rating: Summary: disappointed with the bundle Comment: I like the tablet. Works just fine. My problem is with the bundle. It came with photoshop elements and Corel Painter. In order to use the painter program, you must of course, enter the serial number. There is absolutely no serial number provided. The instructions say that the serial numbers are on the software insert package. The only serial numbers there are (3) identical serial numbers for the photoshop elements. I sent a complaint to Amazon, they sent a new bundled package; it had the same problem. I called them and they explained that it was not their problem, that I should call Corel. They gave me the number to Corel; I explained the problem, got put on eternal hold until I was disconnected. I have not had time to call back but hope to get to it maybe next week. I am very disappointed. The photoshop is fine but I have CS3 and really wanted to try out the painter progam.
Customer Rating: Summary: Be Patient Comment: Works well with my Vista Hp 530 Notebook computer can use mouse and pen anytime without issues cordless features are great. It beats using the touch pad and I still have the option to use it if I want. Still trying to get use to the pen clicks and bottons still need to find a comfortable position. Not sure of how to tweak settings yet. Use handwriting notepad for notes -- getting better--with time--like the fact you can erase by flipping the pen-- Only got into software that came with it alittle bit Do not like Corel advertizing to upgrade to expensive software. Have not had time to use Painter Essentials 3 yet. Use it mostly for vector art with my craft cutting tool.
