However, I purchased my son a size 10 thinking it would be the right side since he is a bit smaller than most 9 year old boys. In the product listing they mention that the guard is fitted and to purchase larger than you normally wear. They weren't kidding! When the rashguard arrived, it would most likely have fit a preschooler. It was so small. The shirt is great, just be sure to purchase at least 3 times what your child normally wears. I found that it was best for me to take my son into a store to try on rashguards. O'Neill rashguards tend to vary the way they fit even though they may have the same size listed.
